Quito – Centro de Arte Contemporáneo November 2022 – February 2023
OVERGROUND RESISTANCE / Resistencias a la luz del sol. The exhibition brings together a series of works that highlight social movements that are constantly fighting for the rights of nature. Austrian artist Oliver Ressler, who has worked on issues related to global warming, is the curator of this exhibition, together with María Rosa Jijón (part of the A4C ArtsForTheCommons collective), in co-production with CAC.
In the current climate, the planet is increasingly experiencing extreme weather conditions. Glaciers are melting, forest fires in Brazil and Siberia continue unabated, and many fertile regions are facing droughts that were previously unimaginable in those areas. Faced with this situation, many of the world’s governments are taking action only in words and not in deeds. For this reason, climate justice movements have taken the initiative to promote the social changes and global actions necessary to address this climate emergency.
